Useful Information

The “right” contractions are regular, close and painful, a sign that labor may have started. You can use the cell phone stopwatch: if they arrive every 5 minutes, they last about 1 minute and have been like this for at least 1 hour, it's time to contact or go to the hospital. The breaking of the water is not always like in the movies: if the bag breaks “at the top”, the liquid may come out in drops and not in drips. If the liquid is clear, it should still be reported to the hospital. If, on the other hand, it tends to be green or brown (“dyed water”) Go to the hospital immediately: it may be a sign of fetal distress.

Go to the emergency room even if you have bleeding, painful contractions before term, or if you feel your child moving much less than usual.
