The mandatory vaccinations in the first year are free and mandatory by law to access nurseries and kindergartens, except for certified medical reasons.
In the first year they are as follows:
- ESA-valent (3 doses at 3, 5 and 11 months with injections in the thigh): diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b.
- Pneumococcus (2 doses + booster in the 2nd year) .
- Meningococcus B (3 doses in the first year) .
- Rotavirus, which is administered by route oral (in droplets) in 2-3 doses within 24-32 weeks of life
- News of 2024: prophylaxis with monoclonal antibody against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which serves to prevent serious forms of bronchiolitis that may require hospitalization in the first months of life. Prophylaxis is recommended for infants of the epidemic season (October—March). It is given as a single injection, usually in the first month of life, before winter.
You can hold the boy or girl in your arms during administration: skin-to-skin contact helps reduce pain and fear.
You have the right to receive clear and complete information on each vaccine, expected effects and possible mild reactions (such as fever or irritability).
The booking system varies from region to region: often there is no need to book, the Vaccination Center sends the automatic call.
