Useful Information

The allowance is due, in the interest of the child, in equal parts to those who exercise parental responsibility (art. 2 c. 2 of the Italian Legislative Decree), except for the following: in the case of exclusive custody, the allowance is due, in the absence of agreement, to the foster parent; in the event of separation or divorce, the judge may order that the allowance be paid to only one of the parents (INPS message no. 1714 of 20 April 2022, paragraph 3).

The parent submitting the application must be: a) Italian citizen or citizen of an EU member state; b) citizen of a non-EU country in possession of an EU residence permit for long-term residents, - holder of a unique work permit authorized to carry out a work activity for a period longer than six months, - holder of a residence permit for research purposes authorized to stay in Italy for a period exceeding six months.
