The first visit (6th-8th week) begins the birth process: medical and family history is collected, the expected date of delivery is defined and the first tests are prescribed. You have the right to ask questions, ask for explanations about the terms and participate in decisions (informed consent). The 'M' exemption exams are required by law.
What to bring: health card, recent reports, list of drugs/allergies.What to ask for: calendar of checks for weeks, free exams with “M” exemption, how to contact consultors and birth point, when you go to the hospital immediately. To find your way around: national principles on exemptions and organization of the path; the Birth Path Agendas are published by the Regions/ASL: consult yours for details week by week. It is normal to feel lost between codes and initials: help yourself by consulting the Pregnancy Glossary and take everyone with you to visit the doubts and preferences (diet, work, activities) that you want to share.
