Useful Information

The glycemic curve evaluates the body's ability to regulate blood sugar and serves to detect gestational diabetes at an early stage. It is performed by drinking a sugar solution and measuring blood sugar at regular intervals with blood samples.

The exam takes place between 24 and 28 weeks in the laboratory and lasts about two hours. It may be useful to eat light the night before and to remain calm and restful while waiting. It's not a painful exam, but it can be a bit long and tiring. Talk to your doctor if you have doubts about the need for it or about the best times to do it.
