Both parents maintain parental responsibility (art. 337-ter of the Italian Civil Code) .Extraordinary decisions must be taken together, while for ordinary decisions, each parent can act alone. The separation or divorce decree establishes: — who is the foster parent, that is, the one where the child usually lives; — the times and methods of attending with the other parent. If the homes are close together and lifestyles are compatible, the child's stay can be divided almost equally.
